You are reading a past issue. Lazar, the AI golf rules and strategy assistant, has received significant updates for improved reliability, accurate rule interpretation from official books, and better on-course readability. The developer is transparently sharing the project's current costs and inviting golfers to try the enhanced app.

Lazar Golf Assistant: Updates, Features, & Project Costs

Written byDani Salmerón

I’ve made changes to Lazar.

You know — the best digital assistant in the world for golf rules and strategy.

I’ve added a couple of images on the website to show how it works. I’ve also changed the way it responds to improve reliability.

To stop it from hallucinating. Poor thing.

Basically, I fed it the official Rules of Golf books in both English and Spanish, and in the instructions I tell it (in its own language):

“When you’ve carefully analyzed the photo, look up in the rulebook which rule applies best, and from there extract the player’s options and strategy.”

All of that taking into account the mother of all golf rules:

“Play the course as you find it and play the ball as it lies.” That’s Rule 1.1.

You knew that one, right? It’s the foundational principle from which almost every other rule is born: penalties, relief, drops, obstructions, and so on.

On top of that, I’ve changed the font styles in the responses to make them more readable on the course in full daylight.

I still haven’t launched the Meta ads. I have no idea how to run them.

Anyway, I want as many people as possible to try it, so I’m still sending invitation codes to anyone who asks.

You can also sign up at lazar dot golf.

What I’ve invested in the project so far:

  • So far, Vercel isn’t charging me anything for hosting. I’m on the “Hobby” plan.
  • The domain lazar dot golf: €6 the first year, but €80 per year after that.
  • The AI coding tool I use (Antigravity) is free. For now.
  • To send emails to new sign-ups, I use Resend. Also free for now.
  • And for the database, I use Supabase. Free at the beginning too.

The biggest cost so far has been time.

So I’ll leave you now — I’ve got to get back to it. Hahahaha

Have a great weekend, golfer! Watch out for the wind!!

P.S.1: If you try the app, tell me everything that’s wrong. P.S.2: The good stuff too.
