Just so you know.
Last year’s Christmas dinner took down World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler.
Out of service. Caput.
He came into the holidays having won everything — World No. 1, The Masters, The Players, FedEx Cup, Olympic gold… basically the king of the tour.
So, the Scheffler family rents a house for Christmas. The big day arrives. Dinner needs to be cooked.
And who’s going to do it? Ferran Adrià? Gordon Ramsay? Juan Mari Arzak?
Scottie Scheffler himself. The same guy who wins the Masters makes homemade ravioli from scratch.
But there’s one problem:
In the house they rented… no pasta cutter.
It’s like showing up to a tournament missing your driver.
Well, when you’re missing a club, you improvise. So Scottie decides to use…
A wine glass.
Result:
While pressing the glass upside down to cut the pasta, it shatters under his right hand, slicing it open and leaving bits of glass embedded in it.
The bleeding gets bad — so bad they call a doctor friend to stop it.
It takes surgery to remove the fragments, and Scheffler misses the start of the season, skipping The Sentry and The American Express.
They made sure the surgeon didn’t forget any tools… hahaha.
“I’ve heard horror stories about wine glasses ever since this happened,” Scheffler said.
Moral of the story:
When you travel for Christmas, don’t forget your pasta cutter.
Merry Christmas, golfers. Enjoy the cooking — carefully.
