Alright, listen up.
I’ve got a solution to the problem. What’s the problem? That not knowing the rules well enough in each situation…
…can mean winning or losing a tournament. Or getting penalized. Or disqualified.
Or adding strokes you didn’t deserve.
Relying on someone else — who might know even less than you — yeah, that’s not gonna work.
It’s almost impossible to stay on top of everything. There are:
Rules. Sub-rules. Local Rules. Clarifications. Exceptions.
And exceptions to the exceptions. You know that, right?
Here’s an example:
Rule 11.1b – Ball in motion accidentally hits person or outside influence.
General Rule: If a ball in motion accidentally hits a person, animal, or equipment, there’s no penalty and you play it as it lies.
Exception: If a ball played from the putting green hits a person, animal, or equipment, the stroke is canceled and must be replayed.
But, wait for it...
Exception to the Exception: If the ball hits the player themselves or their equipment, the stroke doesn’t get canceled. You play it as it lies.
Crazy, right? Hahahaha.
Anyway, in the age of smartphones and artificial intelligence, honestly… I don’t see much point in memorizing all that.
That’s why, when you subscribed, I sent you access to a custom GPT you can use on your phone.
I’ve been training and fine-tuning it, and here’s what I “fed” it:
- The Rules of Golf (2023) by the R&A and USGA
- The official Clarifications
- The Model Local Rules (MLR)
- Committee procedures and real-world case scenarios on the course
It’s my personal fix to the problem. Works great for me.
You upload a photo of whatever weird situation happens to you, and it helps you out — it works damn well.
But I need your help finding its flaws. Seriously.
I’m sure it’s not perfect.
If you tell me what’s off, I’ll keep improving it — and we’ll end up building an app together.
You’ll get priority access.
What do you say?
Have a great weekend, golfer.
P.S. I Don’t forget to get out there and swing hard. P.S. II And give the GPT a try!
